Watercolors by Nico Madres, February 6th, 2015.

Nico Madres, a.k.a. Chris Blaho, a.k.a. Pablo Picasso Jr., was another young artist robbed of his legacy, as was I. Artists are not slaves, and don’t thrive on pride alone. We work, and we work hard. Our talent in an oeuvre that took a lifetime of practice and harnessing our skills. Working means money, normally. I was Gauguin, and other acronyms they gave me, and I don’t have a cent for that. Me and my circle of artists make art as a group; the boys reinterpret my projects. Since a lot of art got wrongfully attributed, we’re gonna fix that right up.

Heart

Nico made his own watercolor paints with pigment powders for these works.

N.B.: Helen Blaho, Nico’s mother, was one of my good friends for many years. My mother, sister, and I, have many fond memories and jokes about her funny company. Helen was very secretive, with a lot of pride. She was a talented painter, and a hard-working working mom; running her home and raising her children. I saw her work in the late 90′s, in the Guggenheim “swirl” in NYC. Nico’s grandmother was very famous; meet Sophia Petrillo, star of the 1980′s sitcom “Golden Girls”. “Sophia’s” husband, Nico’s grandfather, was a well-known Canadian artist, and so was Nico’s father, who did paintings under the name Georgia O’Keefe. He also sang as Quebec darling Antoine Gratton. All in the family!

Rings from Alicia, February 7th, 2015.

I made some rings of my own for my loves, a “daddy” ring, now nicknamed “The Duke”, an engagement ring for Brandon, and an engagement ring for Nico. Soon to come as well, the engagement ring I made for Mat. And others I had or bought…But this is tragedy, because the boys just don’t come.

This is an Eddie card from 2010. Do you know his secret?

FRIDA, February 7th, 2015.

Marker drawing with Frida Kahlo, 2014. This is an artwork by Mexican artist Frida, done with me (Alicia) drawing too, side by side.

I met Frida, and decided to get her making art, so I invited her to draw with me, with my supplies. She left me the drawing. She said, “don’t forget me”.

Paintings by Johh Constantinopoulos, March 22nd 2015.

John is an expert reproduction artist. The different techniques he can copy impeccably are incredible! So is his color mixing of complex palettes. Maybe we shouldn’t let him near a museum…More paintings to come in the next few days.

John Constantinopoulos was my made up name for Jade. I made it up when we were kids. So really, these are Jade’s paintings.

Copy of Brandon’s “Schooner”, with a more blurry effect in the sand on the left bottom corner.

Copy of my Red Flowers, with a bit of artistic variation. His background color is lighter and the painting looks fresher than mine.

Original art, but with elements from my bird art and Asian style branches art. This painting is interesting in the way the birds are outside of the closed cages.

Copy of my bird painting. This is incredible because of the complex palette, and the textures in the painting, done with the brushes, taping and palette knife.

Six canvas montage of finches and winter scenes. There is even a battery wiring with lights you can turn on!

Feature photo of John’s incredible miniature detailing. Look at the bare trees on the right of the center image, or the feathers on the left, and the house above them! Wow!

Super special engagement ring for John. March 23rd, 2015.

John makes miniatures, so his engagement ring fits on his third finger (on the left hand), but over the top knuckle. Accentuates his work, this is a very special aestheticism I chose for him. The ring is a horned dragon, like a Japanese samurai ring.

Mat’s answer to Picasso’s (Nico’s) painting The Dream. March 25th, 2015.

Excellent second version by Mat. Large format. Features his blurry effect again in the painting style.

Paintings by us, April 12th 2015.

Not Picasso, its Matthew Ross Giantonio’s child art, a portrait of me holding my baby sister

Me and Grandpa Surveyer painted “Van Goghs” together at the ranch, this one is by him

This one is my version, under age 10

Closeup: I hid a classmate’s name in the painting: Jason R. Last name was “Riendeau”, did the flowers only need water in the vase? Or not?

Me and Grandpa painted in grandma’s garden…this is my version. See the strokes of cerulean blue in the grass on the left?

Who’s crazy yellow finger-painting is this? Again with the yellow? lol

Painting by Grandpa Raymond Surveyer

More to come: another couple original “Van Goghs”, a “Monet” by me, and my Cézanne still life that beats his. April 13th, 2015.

Original “Monet” by Alicia c.2005

‘Van Gogh’ Iris by Raymond Surveyer, in the garden at Faraway Grandma’s. The painting has been chemically treated, like Mat’s, giving it the blurry effect. (In John’s work he mimicked that effect on purpose.)

‘Cézanne’ style original still life by me (Alicia). This painting is hanging at my dad’s house, along with the ones that follow. They give his house a regal and sophisticated allure!

This is an original by me, loosely based on a Cézanne. I like his landscapes and still life, not a fan of the bather paintings.

Original “Emily Carr” by me. These are all acrylic paintings.

Oriignal “Van Gogh” by me, acrylic, with sarasin & oil paint texture accents

More of John’s paintings, based on my drawings. We are as an artists’ circle, with me as the nucleus. April 14th, 2015.

One of my earlier marker drawings. This piece (& portfolio) were turned down by Quebec Conseil des Arts more than once- for a grant.

The story of the wolfy hat. May 15th, 2015.

Painting about the story by Nico Madres

In hospital over the winter, a social worker would come visit to take patients on a walk once a week. I decided to go along, and this time she had maybe a dozen patients coming with her. She had another young girl who worked at the hospital with her, so we all got all suited up and left. The lady was really over-eager cause of all the people, and she led us through a snowy, icy alley as a short cut. Right away part of the group were off like a shot to her super-speed cadence. I was in the slower group, and was worried about an old woman walking with us that didn’t even have proper shoes for the snow and ice. It was precarious footing. We got out of the alley, and onto the road, and the group ahead kept getting farther and farther in the distance. Finally they were out of sight. I looked at my watch, and realizing by now the walk should be half over, I decided to tell everyone to turn around and head back. I knew the route, and that without going through the stupid alley. So I led everyone back (everyone in the slow group), and when I got back to hospital they were happy to see us, they were very worried! Apparently one of the orderleys had a bad feeling that we were gonna lose patients. Anyways, before we took the elevator up in the hospital, we had walked through the corridor, and I had found a fur ‘bandeau’ just hanging on a railing. I picked it up, and realized it was wolf fur! It was all white, like the white wolves at the ecomuseum. They’re my friends. The bandeau even had a piece of dirt caked on it, it looked like wolfy poop! Wolves have a strong couple in the pack that take care of all the wolves, as they hunt and travel in their packs. I think a wolfy friend was proud of my leadership in the snowy winter, taking care of the patients, and left me a present. Animals are in tune with people and nature, and sometimes do neat things. The strip probably came from his scruff, on the back of his neck, because he was well fed and had some thick excess fur. Don’t doubt the miracles of nature! So that’s the story of my wolfy hat.

FUDGE !!! May 24th, 2015.

The Piece, May 27th, 2015.

“Turquoise” Piece in an isle of Mica…..just kidding, its on the arm of my couch.

Better picture of my pendant. The turquoise is rock hard and the point is very sharp. May even be a diamond cutter

Bottle of rose syrup. June 2nd, 2015.

On with the recipes!

On with the treats!

Rose & semi-sweet chocolate fudge, June 11th, 2015.

Rose fudge pieces…the semi-sweet chocolate gives an opening tart taste, doesn’t linger on the palate, with the rose taste taking over. When you eat rose essence it causes a feeling of ‘bien-être’ in your entire body.

New watercolor by Nico Madres. June 15th, 2015.

My critique is: I think this is top-class.
