2 recipes to pack the gills

Mushroom Risotto

My original recipe for this kind of “risotto” crosses norms of cultural recipes into a delicious pile of borscht!

Buy a bag of basmati rice, and read the directions about making it with water; you will have to compensate because we add more liquid into the mix.

Use a big metal pan that has a cover. Put in the rice, some water, a big big spoonful of margarine, a nice shot of Bovril bouillon, a can of mushroom soup (the kind that doesn’t require adding water), some fresh chopped white mushroom, and a nice bundle of rice noodles.

Cover it (stir it together somewhat first) and just let it sit on medium for 7 minutes. Open the lid, stir it once, cover it again, and wait another 7-8 minutes.

Voilà!

You can check if its ready, or maybe if it needs some extra, by taste-test! The rice shouldn’t be hard.

Potato Salad Special

Boil chunks of potatoes, and carrots that are cut into chunks too. Put more potatoes than carrots though! This requires washing them, peeling them, chopping them… You should boil them separate. They have to cook until they are soft to eat.

This potato salad can be served warm, when its just made, or cold.

Use mayonnaise, salt, and pepper on your cooked potatoes and carrots. (Dump the water off, you idiot!) You can use Miracle Whip if you prefer it. Watch out about putting too much! But you will notice also, that the meal lacks flavor, if you put too little.

Mash in a hard-boiled egg, and a can of strained tuna.

This makes about one big pot, and the little extras add the punch… of food!!!

I just made banana bread (banana cake)

Cake is done (& delicious, because…)

It gets dark; but it is still moist. The edges are like biscotti, for example. Kind of hard & bland. But people love that stuff!!!! That’s why it’s called banana bread!

Its my design, and its forms include Quebec ‘fleur de lys’, plus a barbed effect (like protected; like a gate), plus a snowflake, plus a star… a geometric 6 plus 5; its equilateral… the star is empty space

Its Saturday! Today I put together an art mailer for a new place; a new museum; a Fine Arts museum in São Paulo, Brazil. I’m trying new places! Brazil holds a special type of exotic in its nature & culture. Perfect for nature~girl & her new critters! It took me all day… (that’s because almost everything was ready to go, though!)

This painting has an odd occurrence; for the period; a hidden shadow; an askew image; its a skull; in extreme perspective ~ just kind of thrown in (it was painted in 1533)
Its called “The Ambassadors” by Hans Holbein the Younger. There was a Hans Holbein The Elder, also a painter… but it makes me wonder, especially since they are called “ambassadors”, if this painting is about being either a rich or poor man, or a wise and knowledgeable man, versus still being a younger man. There are objects of science in the painting. Is one a man of science, and of a more mature age, and thus a man of riches? You can also compare how they are dressed.

Even though there is ‘trompe l’oeil’ in my photoset, this story only has one page so far. Freesia, art & parchment hide a story…

One of the interesting aspects of rice paper is the transparency; the texture makes beautiful effects, of diffused light… even an entire wall in a tropical bedroom!
Here I show my drawing in the window… the colors of my parchment become even more vivid

I was working on my designs today~

For prints~

There are four new postcards, in a style that is thick, glossy, and double-sided, featuring all my flowers, and the whale fish. All of the postcards are five by seven inches, just like the cards that have my drawings on them are. I made a set of stickers with the Calla Lillies; a pair of two~styles~a~pair.

I used to work mainly in oils; then mostly acrylic, and oil painting only from time to time.
I made two series of little flower paintings in oils. Quaint & vrai-semblant.

One like this (from this series) is at The Frick, in a frame… its orange tiger lilies and purple hyacinth, with a lush green and purple background. The gold spotted lining on the frame mimics the tiger lily flower in the painting.
