Journal Section 2016
Quest. January 1st, 2016
I love the natural beauty of raw crystals, called geodes. Often they are not gemstone quality, but are very beautiful. To have a cut piece for jewelry is different. I want all of these! (Link below)

An artistic picture, by me Alicia, from maybe 10 years ago. There is a large geode at the bottom of the picture. This geode has 3 types of crystals in it.
Canada Post Stamps by ME, Alicia Surveyer. February 8th, 2016
I made 5 designs of limited edition stamps. I planned the designs very carefully. They are part of my new oeuvre. These are pictures of the first design I made (below). For this edition there are 42 booklets. This is because, in all “art fairness”, as imperative, I had to pay back some of my friends for their art worth millions of dollars; even though I had recovered it for them, I have it as owned. Five of my friends, some of the best artists I recognize, have 6 booklets each. I have 12. The four following designs I made are small editions. THEY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT POST OFFICES FOR SALE. If anyone is interested in purchasing my stamps, please follow the guidelines on the Shop tab. I demand a clear, polite letter and certified payment.
I am honestly very sick and tired of being nagged by organized public movements to do work, which they then enjoy on my site for free.

Cover of my stamp booklet.
There are elements of the design that are especially thought out for aesthetic, and a beautiful message about Canada in the art of my booklet.

12 Canada Lettermail Stamps in each of the 12 booklets
The stamps are formatted vertically, with Canada written on the top part of the stamp.
Editions; 1st; (as seen above); edition of 42, 7 booklets available, at 7 000 000$ each. 2nd; edition of 12, 8 booklets available, 12 Canada Lettermail stamps per booklet, at 7 000 000$ each. 3rd; edition of 3, 1 sheet available, 25 Canada Post International Lettermail stamps, at 50 000 000$. 4th; edition of 3, 1 sheet available, 25 Canada Lettermail stamps, at 50 000 000$. Final; edition of 1, no sheets available, 25 Canada Lettermail stamps. This sheet features Jade’s art, as curated by me. Prices are not permanent; they could be changed.
Canada Post Stamps UPDATE, by ME, Alicia Surveyer. February 11th, 2016
The 4 Canada Post booklets and stamp sheets I designed feature the 4 veins of my most recent art.
1) Large Landscapes in acrylic paint
2) Marker drawings on clean sheets and glossy cards
3) My original expert fine-art photography
4) Fresh color paper paintings.
All the designs feature my new aesthetic.
Color-coded ribbons. Feb 21st 2016.
Mom

Picture of my mom Christine.
She was visiting me at my home, and we were being silly.
I told her I would take a picture of her eating her doughnut.

Ducks. Mallard Ducks. March 26th, 2016
Crown Royal. (“In the bookshelf”) March 29th, 2016
I had a dream about Chivas, and a feeling to go to the store… it all worked out quite well in an odd way in the end. Good expedition.
Peacock Love-letter Scroll. March 30th 2016
“Join me in paradise, I miss you so much”.

Like our canada geese, ducks, or seagulls that I see often at the water. And yes, I have even seen a female peacock, or maybe she was a partridge, or a quail, but she was big. And she was all grey; soft, like in this artistic interpretation.
Art by Marley, my friend, “Ralph Lauren”. March 31st, 2016
Marley is a lawyer, an artist, and a business man. He makes beautiful stationary crafting creations, which he sells through his store ‘Papyrus’. He is a man of many facets – he is also a designer. In this photoset, you see a gift bag with a beautiful butterfly and crystals. It looks like a couple of my pieces, but his beautiful color scheme with metallics is all his own. There is also a card with a seahorse, that came as a box stationary set of 8. These are the types of things available at the Papyrus boutique. Also featured in this still life photoset of his art is a hand-painted makeup case he made for his cosmetic company Lancome. Finally, everything is set on a beautiful large fire-painted ceramic plate. Enjoy these exquisite photographs on a gray cloudy day!
Capo D’Orla’s love gifts. March 31st, 2016
Capo is an airplane pilot from Columbia; he is also a very passionate and handsome man. You can definitely use that funny woman’s phrase “tall, dark and handsome”, but add in the word mysterious, and an ocean breeze. If you are looking for a peaceful break, you can hit up his Spa Munari here in the West Island, or for something more extreme, his tattoo, piercing, jewellery, art and t-shirt shop, called XS Tattoo. That’s in Costa Rica. He makes a lot of the beautiful things they sell there, including “dark” portraits of women, on big beautiful canvases, in the spirit of Mexico’s Dio de los muertos. That’s the Day of the Dead, celebrated the day after our Halloween. It inspires his paintings. He also is a master in Fibres: a master weaver, embroiderer, and fabric painter, which is done with dyes. He does tailoring, and is an expert jewelry artist. That means he makes jewelry, with metallurgy and gemology. “Fibres” is a discipline in art; offered at Concordia University as a Major, in the Fine Arts Programme. (I’m an alumni, lol.)
Showcased in the photographs below are five earrings that are exotic gifts for him from me (he has a pierced ear). The earrings feature striking elements: a rich yellow gold, bright gemstones, and naturally coloured fresh-water pearls. The blueish plate becomes the tropical water…
Did you know? Food, clothing, shelter. When you join the military, the first thing you do is buy material with your own money, and sow your fatigues. Thats your first duty, no matter how long it takes, or how many times you do it wrong and have to start over. Some soldiers become very good at tailoring. They make their own dress clothes too. (yes, even with all those little flags…)
“How are the cats?”
Circus-poster art by Steve Surveyer. April 6th, 2016
My dad made these artworks when I was a kid. I was really little, but I remember some big deal about him losing them. I found them a few months ago. Whats cool about them is that they are not circus posters at all; they are a stylized graphic and picture, with some kind of artful meaning. This is not unlike my cards… but this is really boy art. Weird words, the fonts, the images… They are done on paper, and have been chemically treated so they look smooth like for a beautiful art book. Enjoy some treats from a generation back!
A growling-tiger painting by me, A Surveyer. April 6th, 2016

I made this oil painting as a teenager. Again, like our ‘cards’, no knowledge of copying my father’s art.
Some technology art. April 6th, 2016
I’m a-spoiling a gift!
Taming ducks at Stewart Hall. April 6th, 2016
This female and male mallard couple had 5 ducklings already despite the cold spring we are having. One of them hopped into my purse!

Their feathers are so beautiful in the sunshine! (These are actually very beautiful specimens of the species. It might have been because I was taming them and talking to them so they showed their best side and were proud to be photographed. That’s not a joke!)
The moon. April 6th, 2016
Alicia’s picture of the moon
I took this photograph when I lived in my old apartment. The view at night was incredible sometimes. I forgot about it, found the file yesterday, and here it comes because it is insane.
Peacock stitching art up close, and peacock porcelain plate by my lovely, Dalton James. April 10th, 2016
Look closely at the first photograph of Baby’s porcelain plate; you can see the two nail marks where he tested the plate. One is in the middle, the other along the rim. This feature also shows clear pictures of Baby’s greatgrandpa’s stitching art. A male peacock with his feathers is a good subject for detailing I suppose!
Our ring set; we are married. April 12th, 2016
Cologne photos. April 14th, 2016
For this photoset of men’s colognes I tried inventing a “manly-looking” aesthetic… and the muscle rub is Asian, so that too!
Make the room. April 14th, 2016
I added things to the guest bedroom to make it a happy and lovely space; its also my office away from home. I can’t resist posting all the photos I took, even though they are all similar, because I love the look so much! The colors, the light, the angles of the room… These are my rainbow-color paintings on the walls, and rainbow-color pillows by Dalton James.
Make the room. April 14th, 2016
I added things to the guest bedroom to make it a happy and lovely space; its also my office away from home. The colors, the light, the angles of the room… These are my rainbow-color paintings on the walls, and this completes my collection of Venetian masks.
Photographing one of my favorite subjects again, roses. April 16th, 2016
This is a rare beauty as far as roses go, and the glass vase is angular. Me and my mom decided on a spot for the pictures that had sunshine from the blinds. I was watching Stanley Cup hockey because Jade plays for Washington, and I’m really involved in the NHL. It was a very exciting game, and I decided to award Washington the “Flower Cup”. What fun!
Soap and necklace. April 18th, 2016
My aunt Joanne Csendes makes and markets this artisan soap – and many other variation – out of her home. I decided to photograph it with my necklace since they look similar, and it makes for striking photos. I just got these two ‘objects’ in the last few days, so it seems it was a perfect match! The soap bar in the picture is scented with almond, so it smells like marzipan. Joanne also makes beautiful quilts. Her soaps are very expensive because of the ingredients in them. You also have to factor in her time and skill at her craft. You pay what its worth!
Vases. April 21st, 2016
These two vases match my decor and add an eclectic touch. They are from Pier 1 Imports, one of my favorite stores. The only other place I can get things so nice is my other favorite store, called On the Mend. Pier 1 Imports is owned by my friend Duncan Parker, who – like Marley and Nico – has all kinds of business all over the place. He owns the gelateria I featured in photographs previously; he owns Sofitel Hotel, a beautiful place out and in where old-style hotel traditions, like a bellboy who whistles for cabs, live on (and also where he has one of his offices for Dupuis Auctions). Sofitel is located on Sherbrooke St. in one of Montreal’s ritzy areas, that is like our museum mile. He owns the Armani design house; and, like Jafar, he is the evil vizier to the royals. That’s a joke. But he is a friend of the family, and part-time ‘usher’. He is also a ‘royal’ himself – the heir to the Machiavelli’s, royalty of Italy, from the Doges Palace in Venezia.

I actually painted the blue vase on the left as a kid, and found it again at Pier1! I call it a Burberry because it is the opposite of blue-on-white Delftware. The vase on the right is multi-colored and matches my painting, and seems to have been made with hot glass rods. Maybe Jade made it?
Portraits of my aunt Bunny. May 1st, 2016
Today we were at my aunt’s visiting for her birthday. Per la sua festa. I brought my camera, planning to take her portrait. I asked her, she said she was not photogenic, I said, NO WAY, plus, I said I can bring out everyone’s good side. Some of the pictures picked up auras, because she is a very sweet, kind, lovely lady. Very, very special.

I made a funny joke, because of the nice portraits I took previously of my father, Steve Surveyer. I said, “I only photograph old gents.” Tee-hee…
Card Art by Jade. May 3rd, 2016
Jade decided to sneak on me and make some cards of his own. They are so lovely; I consider them high fine art. They have a beautiful girlie theme, tailored for his cara. He knows me well! Very, very special.
Wolfy Sunshine. May 4th, 2016
I bought this coin with my wolfy-pup Sunny in mind… He is such a good boy, I figured he deserves a medal too. Sunny honors his name; he likes positive things, that he calls “sunshine”. Did you bring me any sunshine today? Very, very special.
Alicia’s MONUMENTALE. May 5th, 2016

May 6th, 2016
What do you see here?
Portraits of my sister’s husband Arash. May 8th, 2016
I got a quick photoshoot in at our Mother’s Day celebrations. Very nice. (That’s a joke, because the pictures ARE nice, AND because he has pride like a big wop.)
Photo project. May 28th, 2016
Finally the right time for this photo project…
Alicia’s gourmet treats. May 31st, 2016
I’ve been at work in the kitchen for a good few days… I made Mint Candy, a tub of Peanut Butter Paddies, and Lemon-Butter Candy. Trust me, its hard work! And, like any of the art I make, it took a lifetime of building up my skills!
Iris photos; rainy day, in the evening. June 2016

Dramatic photos of rainbows and weather conditions, at Stewart Park. June 19th, 2016
Unfortunately, I only had my cell camera this day, when the weather turned special and beautiful. The photographs are still very very strong.
